About Egg Cost Check

A small, free tool for one question: will my own eggs cost more than the store?

Egg prices swing. So does the interest in keeping hens. Many people decide based on a rough guess, then find out the coop, run, feed and the weeks before the first egg changed the math.

Egg Cost Check puts those costs next to the price on your grocery receipt. You enter your own numbers and see the first-year and ongoing cost per dozen.

How it works

The formulas are open on the method page. The calculator runs in your browser and does not send your numbers anywhere.

Who makes it

Egg Cost Check is an independent project. It is not sponsored by any feed, coop or egg brand. If that ever changes, it will be said clearly on the page.
